In an upcoming episode of the singing reality show Indian Idol, the late legendary Asha Bhosle will be honored. Lyricist and poet Manoj Muntashir shared insights into the creation of the iconic song ‘Jhumka Gira Re’ sung by Asha Bhosle. He revealed that the song became so popular that a 14 feet tall Jhumka was erected on the outskirts of Bareli, named Jhumka Chowk in her honor.
The song ‘Jhumka Gira Re’ featured in the classic movie Mera Saaya, directed by Raj Khosla in the 1960s, and became a cult favorite in Hindi cinema. It was famously picturized on actress Sadhana Shivdasani in a lively and playful manner. The film also starred Sunil Dutt, Prem Chopra, K. N. Singh, and others.
