The Indian junior men’s hockey team had a successful year in 2025, securing two significant international medals and gearing up for the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Tamil Nadu 2025 in December. Under the guidance of PR Sreejesh, the team underwent rigorous national training camps to build a strong squad and ensure peak performance for the Junior World Cup.
Their journey began with the Four Nations Tournament in June, where they competed against top European teams like Germany, Spain, and Australia, finishing third and clinching a crucial 2-1 victory over Australia. This tournament provided valuable experience and insights as they continued their preparations for the World Cup.
Continuing their momentum, the team participated in the 2025 Sultan of Johor Cup in October, securing the Silver Medal after impressive wins against Great Britain, New Zealand, and Malaysia. Despite a tough loss to Australia in the final, the team showcased resilience and determination throughout the tournament.
At the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Tamil Nadu 2025, India put up a commendable performance, starting with convincing wins in the pool stage. They displayed exceptional skill in the quarter-finals, defeating Belgium in a shootout and eventually securing the bronze medal by staging a remarkable comeback against Argentina in the 3rd/4th place playoff.
