A significant seizure of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at over Rs 63 lakh occurred during a prohibition raid on the Rajkot-Bhavnagar highway. The State Monitoring Cell discovered 5,280 bottles of IMFL, along with a Tata truck, at Tulsi Hotel near Halenda village in Rajkot city. Additionally, 2,340 bags of Mor Light liquid detergent worth Rs 14.01 lakh were found as cover cargo.
Law enforcement officials have registered a case under various sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act in connection with the seized property and goods valued at Rs 97.16 lakh. Although no arrests were made during the raid, the State Monitoring Cell has identified four individuals wanted in connection with the case. These include the truck driver, the intended liquor receiver, the consignment sender from outside Gujarat, and the truck owner.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the origins, transportation route, and intended destination of the seized liquor consignment. This interception is one of the larger prohibition-related incidents reported in Gujarat recently, following similar seizures in Gandhinagar and the dismantling of an illegal IMFL manufacturing unit in Bhavnagar district.
