The Indian men’s cricket team has departed for Sri Lanka to face Pakistan in a crucial Group A match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Colombo. Both teams have won their first two matches and are vying for the two qualifying spots for the Super 8s from Group A. The match, to be held at the R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, is expected to determine the group topper.
On Friday evening, the Indian players, accompanied by their companions and family members, flew from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi to Colombo for the highly anticipated match. India and Pakistan began their campaigns on February 7, with Pakistan defeating the Netherlands and India overcoming the United States after a challenging start.
India displayed a strong performance in their second match against Namibia, securing a convincing victory by 93 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Meanwhile, Pakistan also registered a win by defeating the USA by 32 runs in Colombo.
The India-Pakistan clash faced uncertainty initially when the Pakistan government announced a boycott of the match. However, after negotiations with the ICC and a plea from the Sri Lankan government highlighting potential losses, the crisis was averted, and the match is set to proceed as scheduled.
