Indian ministers, including Piyush Goyal, S. Jaishankar, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, are set to travel to Brussels for the India-European Union Trade and Technology Council (TTC) dialogue. This initiative aims to complement the recently finalized India-EU free trade agreement (FTA) and facilitate its smooth implementation. Goyal mentioned that the dialogue will enhance cooperation between India and the EU in trade, technology, and resilient supply chains.
The TTC dialogue is expected to strengthen key areas of collaboration between India and the European Union. It will focus on trade, technology, and ensuring the effective implementation of the FTA. Goyal also shared that discussions on the proposed India-Canada free trade agreement are progressing well, with an Indian negotiating team preparing to depart for Canada soon.
Goyal expressed optimism about concluding the India-Canada FTA within the next six months. However, he noted that the FTA with Peru may face delays due to Indian concerns regarding market access for certain products. Despite the ongoing conflict in West Asia, negotiations for a trade pact with Israel are ongoing, albeit at a slower pace. Goyal hopes that talks will accelerate once the situation in the region stabilizes.
During an event, Goyal encouraged Indian toy manufacturers to leverage global market opportunities and target a significant increase in exports over the next four years. He assured the industry of the government’s commitment to maintaining stringent quality standards without compromise.
