The Indian National Congress has initiated a campaign named “Chhatron Ki Goonj” (Students’ echo) scheduled for June 25, 2026. This nationwide campaign includes press conferences in various major cities, advocating for a comprehensive transformation of India’s education system. The party is urging the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, criticizing the government’s educational policies.
The Congress, through AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, has accused the current government of lacking vision and following a dogmatic approach towards education. They claim that the government, over the last twelve years, has focused on privatization, centralization, and what they term as “Sanghification” of education. The party asserts that these policies have left Indian youth ill-prepared for the challenges of the future.
Senior leaders of the Congress will lead press conferences in 28 cities as part of this campaign, including prominent locations like Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Jaipur. The initiative aims to kickstart a national dialogue on reshaping the education system to be more modern, inclusive, and aligned with the needs of the youth. Congress is inviting students, teachers, parents, and concerned citizens to participate in this dialogue for a progressive education system.
The Congress party is emphasizing the importance of restructuring education to meet the aspirations of the youth rather than being influenced by ideological agendas. By focusing on education reform, Congress seeks to question the government’s approach and rally public support for significant changes in the system. The call for the Education Minister’s resignation is part of this strategy to hold the government responsible for what the party views as years of negligence and mismanagement in the education sector.
