An Indian National Defence College (NDC) delegation, led by Maj Gen H S Bajaj, VSM, has started its study tour in Romania with engagements at Carol I National Defence University. Discussions during the visit focused on strategic planning, geopolitics, and emerging security challenges, highlighting the deepening defence cooperation between India and Romania.
During the 2nd Meeting of the Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation (JCDC) in New Delhi last month, both countries assessed their ongoing defence collaboration and finalized a Bilateral Defence Cooperation Plan encompassing areas such as cyber defence, military medical cooperation, joint training, capacity building, and defence industrial collaboration. The meeting was co-chaired by Joint Secretary Dr Amit Telang and Lieutenant General Engineer Liviu-Mihail IANCU from Romania.
In a separate event, Romania’s Foreign Minister, Oana Toiu, met with India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar during an informal gathering of EU foreign ministers in Cyprus. The bilateral trade between Romania and India reached $1.2 billion in 2025, marking a 20% year-on-year increase. The discussions between the ministers included cooperation in defence, renewables, and industry, with plans for high-level visits later in the year.
