At least 882 Indian nationals, including students, business professionals, and pilgrims, who were stranded in Iran, are now making their way back home through Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) mentioned that many have already arrived in India. According to MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, out of the estimated 9,000 individuals in Iran, around 882 are in the process of returning, with some having already reached their destination.
Jaiswal informed that 280 out of 284 pilgrims who had traveled to Iran have returned, arriving via Armenia. The remaining few are also expected to return within a day or two. The return process has seen 772 individuals crossing the Iranian land border into Armenia, while the pace is slower on the Azerbaijan route, with about 110 Indian citizens yet to return home.
