Indian Naval sail training ship INS Sudarshini made a significant appearance at SAIL Boston 250, emphasizing India’s maritime heritage and naval capabilities. The Consulate General of India in Boston highlighted the vessel’s participation as a symbol of growing India-US maritime cooperation during a media briefing aboard the ship. Consul General Raghuram S. underscored the importance of INS Sudarshini’s involvement in the event commemorating the 250th anniversary of US Independence.
INS Sudarshini, the only Naval tall ship from Asia and the wider Indian Ocean Region at SAIL250, sailed for over five months to reach the US East Coast for the 250th Anniversary celebrations. The vessel showcased India’s naval capabilities by sailing on its masts continuously for 18 days. The Consulate emphasized that every part of INS Sudarshini was designed and manufactured in India, demonstrating the country’s shipbuilding prowess and serving as a training vessel for Indian Naval Cadets.
The Consulate announced the ship’s arrival in Boston, with Consul General Raghuram S. boarding the vessel at sea to witness its participation firsthand. INS Sudarshini’s involvement in SAIL Boston 250 signifies a milestone for India’s maritime diplomacy, highlighting its shipbuilding expertise, naval training traditions, and commitment to enhancing maritime partnerships with the US and other nations participating in the international sailing event.
