Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sagardhwani recently docked at Malaysia’s Port Klang during its South East Asia deployment, emphasizing the deepening maritime ties between India and Malaysia. The vessel, serving as the Indian Navy’s Oceanographic Research Vessel, was warmly received by the Royal Malaysian Navy upon its arrival on May 13. This visit facilitated professional interactions, training exchanges, and scientific collaborations between the naval personnel of both countries.
INS Sagardhwani’s return to Port Klang, following a previous scientific deployment in 2019, underscores the mutual commitment to regional maritime security and cooperation shared by India and Malaysia. The visit also highlighted the growing partnership in maritime endeavors between the two nations. Before its Malaysian stop, the vessel successfully concluded a visit to Cam Ranh, Vietnam, where discussions focused on enhancing maritime engagement and scientific cooperation in alignment with the India-Vietnam Strategic Partnership.
During the visit to Vietnam, the Commanding Officer of INS Sagardhwani engaged with key military officials, exploring avenues for deeper collaboration in maritime training, education, and scientific research. The interactions emphasized research collaboration, knowledge sharing, and capacity building in the field of oceanographic science and technology. The visit also saw scientists from Vietnam’s National Oceanographic Institute visiting the ship, further fostering scientific exchange and cooperation between the two countries.
