Indian Navy Chief, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, held discussions with Myanmar Navy’s Central Naval Command chief Rear Admiral Aung Aung Naing and Training Command chief, Rear Admiral Khun Aung Kyaw, focusing on strengthening navy-to-navy cooperation and enhancing operational engagements. The talks also covered issues related to training cooperation and future collaboration opportunities. Admiral Tripathi, on a four-day official visit to Myanmar, emphasized the commitment to enhancing interoperability and training exchange programs.
During his visit, Admiral Tripathi was received at the Central Naval Command Headquarters in Yangon with a ceremonial Guard of Honour. Discussions with the Myanmar Navy commanders included topics like bolstering existing defense partnerships, maritime security, and promoting shared goals for a stable maritime environment. The Indian Navy spokesperson highlighted the importance of enhancing training cooperation and exploring new avenues for collaboration between the two navies.
Admiral Tripathi’s visit to the Naval Training Command in Myanmar involved discussions on various projects executed with Indian assistance, aimed at augmenting maritime security in the Bay of Bengal region. The visit provided an opportunity to review ongoing bilateral maritime cooperation, enhance operational-level linkages, and strengthen collaboration between the navies of India and Myanmar.
