The Indian Navy’s sail training ship, INS Sudarshini, arrived in Las Palmas, marking the first visit of an Indian naval ship to the Canary Islands. This visit is part of the vessel’s ongoing transoceanic deployment under Lokayan 26. The ship made port calls in Oman, Egypt, Malta, France, and Morocco before reaching Las Palmas.
The Commanding Officer of INS Sudarshini is set to engage with Spanish Naval authorities during the visit. The ship will also be open to visitors from the local Spanish community and the Indian diaspora, aiming to strengthen people-to-people ties. This visit highlights the increasing maritime cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Spanish Navy.
INS Sudarshini will soon embark on a trans-Atlantic passage, participating in Sail 250 commemorative events in the United States as part of the country’s 250th Independence Day celebrations. Meanwhile, Indian Navy Ship (INS) Sunayana recently arrived in Jakarta as part of its operational deployment to the Indian Ocean Region under the IOS Sagar initiative.
During the port call in Jakarta, INS Sunayana engaged with the Indonesian Navy through various interactions. The IOS SAGAR initiative reflects India’s vision of mutual advancement for security and growth across regions, emphasizing leadership through partnership and unity for progress through peace.
