The President of the Indian Olympic Association, P.T. Usha, along with her son Ujjwal, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express gratitude for his blessings, guidance, and inspiration. Usha described the meeting as a memorable moment close to her heart. She also highlighted India’s progress in sports infrastructure and support systems at the National Convention of the Sports Journalists Federation of India.

Addressing the convention, Usha mentioned India’s advancements in sports with improved infrastructure, scientific training, and institutional support for athletes. She shared the nation’s vision of hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games and aspiring to bring the 2036 Summer Olympics to India, reflecting confidence in the country’s sporting future. Usha emphasized that hosting such global events would boost sports development nationwide.

Usha stressed the importance of government initiatives like Khelo India in identifying and nurturing young talent across India. She noted the significant progress in India’s sporting journey, attributing it to enhanced support systems and the increasing recognition of athletes’ requirements. The transformation in sports support and celebration in the country has led to better infrastructure, scientific training, and institutional backing for athletes.
