As India’s athletes participate in the Commonwealth Games, the focus shifts to their performances and medals. Meanwhile, the Indian Olympic Association’s (IOA) medical team, led by Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, is working diligently to keep all participants fit and prepared.

The IOA medical unit, including physiotherapists Sumansh Sivalanka, Chris Pedra, and Debashish Das, offers extensive medical care, physiotherapy, and injury management to the Indian contingent in Scotland. These professionals work tirelessly to aid recovery, prevent injuries, and maintain the athletes’ physical well-being throughout the Games.

Dr. Pardiwala expressed satisfaction in supporting athletes alongside his team, emphasizing the importance of their presence in reassuring and adding value to the participants. The IOA has strategically placed its primary treatment center at the Mercure Hotel to ensure immediate medical attention for athletes across different accommodation sites.

In the absence of a central Athletes’ Village at Glasgow 2026, the IOA’s medical team provides essential support to disciplines like swimming and gymnastics that do not have dedicated medical staff. The focus remains on aiding treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery for all athletes, irrespective of their sport, to sustain peak performance.

The IOA’s athlete-first approach, backed by a comprehensive medical support system, aims to facilitate the Indian contingent’s optimal performance throughout the Commonwealth Games. The team’s dedication to athletes’ well-being and recovery highlights the crucial role of medical care in modern elite sports.
