India’s Tanvi Sharma and the men’s doubles pair of Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun displayed impressive performances, advancing to the next stage at the Orleans Masters 2026 in France. Tanvi, a silver medallist at the World Junior Championships, secured a significant victory over Supanida Katethong of Thailand on Day 1, setting up an all-India Round of 16 encounter. She defeated Anmol Kharb in straight games, 21-14, 21-17, progressing further in the tournament with a prize fund of USD 250,000.
In men’s doubles, Hariharan and Arjun claimed a strong win against Scotland’s Alexander Dunn and Adam Pringle. The Indian duo narrowly won the opening game 26-24 and then dominated the second 21-14, sealing the match in 35 minutes to advance to the quarterfinals.
Moving to women’s singles, India’s Isharani Baruah triumphed over Wen Yu Zhang of Canada in a challenging three-game clash, winning 21-11, 14-21, 21-17 in 53 minutes on Court 1. Additionally, Aalarshi Kashyap faced defeat against Yeo Jia Min of Singapore in straight games during the first round.
In mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde are set to challenge top seeds T Gicquel and Delphine Delrue of France on Court 1. Meanwhile, India’s Ayush Shetty, seeded eighth, will compete against Yudai Okimoto of Japan in a men’s singles Round of 16 match.
Previously, Tanvi Sharma participated in the Badminton Asia Team Championships in Qingdao, China, where India’s campaign concluded after a 0-3 loss to China in the quarterfinals. Tanvi played a crucial role in India’s victory over Myanmar in the same event, defeating Thet Htar Thuzar 21-13, 21-16 in the first singles match.
