India’s Shivaji Parashuram clinched a silver medal in the men’s 10,000m event at the Asian U23 Athletics Championships in Ordos, China. This marked Parashuram’s second medal at the championships, following his earlier silver in the 5,000m race. Despite aiming for gold, he settled for silver with a personal best time of 29:33.54.
In the same event, Japan’s Yoshihiro Kusuoka secured the gold medal with a time of 29:29.34, while China’s Jinzhi Jiang claimed the bronze with a time of 29:42.54. Another Indian participant, Shailesh Kushwaha, finished fourth in the challenging 25-lap race with a time of 30:46.78.
Additionally, Indian athletes Priya and Shravani Sachin Sangle contributed to India’s medal tally with two bronze medals. Priya earned bronze in discus throw with a distance of 50.44m, while Shravani Sachin Sangle secured bronze in the women’s 400m hurdles, clocking 58.09 seconds.
In other events, India’s Anupriya VS finished fourth in women’s shot put with a distance of 14.97m. Astik Pradhan placed fifth in the men’s 400m with a time of 46.33 seconds, and Setu Mishra finished seventh with a time of 47.26 seconds.
