Olympians Elavenil Valarivan and Arjun Babuta won a gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle mixed team event, contributing to India’s total of over 50 medals at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship in New Delhi. Gurpreet Singh, a Rio 2016 Olympian, achieved gold in the 25m Standard Pistol event, leading India to dominate the podium with a clean sweep.
India leads the medal tally with 54 medals, including 34 gold, 12 silver, and eight bronze, after Day 5 of the competition. Uzbekistan and Indonesia follow in second and third place, respectively. Elavenil and Arjun’s combined score secured them the gold medal in the mixed team event, with Himanshu Dhillon and Shambhavi Kshirsagar also clinching gold in their categories.
In the individual events, Elavenil and Arjun continued their winning streak, while Indian shooters excelled in both senior and junior categories, sweeping the podiums. The Indian team’s outstanding performance has solidified their position as frontrunners in the championship.
