Dhakshineswar Suresh, a rising star in Indian tennis, has been granted a wild card entry into the singles main draw of the Bengaluru Open’s 10th edition. Known for his powerful serve and aggressive play, the 25-year-old athlete has been making waves in the professional circuit. In a significant debut match against Switzerland in September 2025, Suresh defeated higher-ranked player Jérome Kym, contributing to India’s victory.
Expressing his pride, Suresh stated that competing at the Bengaluru Open ATP Challenger, especially in front of his home crowd, is a special moment for him. He acknowledged the tournament’s role in providing Indian players with a platform to compete internationally. The event, scheduled from January 5 to 11, 2026, at the S.M. Krishna Tennis Stadium, offers a prize pool of over USD 225,000 and 125 ATP ranking points to the singles champion.
The Bengaluru Open, a prestigious ATP Challenger 125 event, has recognized Suresh’s potential by awarding him the wild card entry. With a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 519 in 2025, Suresh brings a wealth of experience from his time in U.S. college tennis. Sunil Yajaman, Tournament Director of KSLTA, praised Suresh’s achievements and expressed optimism for his performance in the upcoming competition.
Organized by the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA), the Bengaluru Open plays a vital role in nurturing India’s tennis talent. The tournament, which has been instrumental in providing exposure to Indian players in international competitions, will feature Suresh alongside other Indian talents like Sumit Nagal and Aryan Shah.
