As artificial intelligence (AI) gains traction in India, a new report reveals that Indian women excel in AI-related skills compared to their counterparts in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The ‘Stanford AI Index 2026’ indicates that Indian women scored 1.9, showing an improvement from the previous year’s 1.61.
In terms of AI projects with a minimum of 10 stars, the United States led with a share of 31.7% in 2025, although this has decreased from nearly 80% in 2011 as developers from other regions have increased their presence. China’s share has stabilized since 2019, while India’s contribution is on the rise, representing 5.2% of projects with at least 10 stars.
India has emerged as a prominent player in AI adoption globally, with 41% of employees using AI almost daily. The ADP Research report highlights that around 80% of Indian employees utilize AI at least multiple times a week, the highest among all surveyed markets.
Notably, women in India are more frequent AI users than men, with 44% using AI nearly every day at work compared to 40% of men. However, there is a growing disparity between AI adoption and perceived productivity, with 30% of daily AI users feeling fully engaged but four times more likely than non-users to feel less productive.
