Hockey India has revealed that the Indian women’s hockey team is set to tour Australia from May 21 to June 3 in readiness for the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup New Zealand 2025-26, slated for June 15 to 21 in Auckland. During the tour, India will engage in four matches against Australia at the Perth Hockey Stadium from May 26 to 30, with the first two matches scheduled for May 26 and 27, and the remaining two on May 29 and 30.
Following the Australian tour, the team will proceed to New Zealand, where they will continue their training with practice matches in preparation for the Nations Cup. The Indian women’s team enters this tour on a positive note after a successful outing in Argentina earlier this year, concluding the four-match tour with two victories. Since their return, the squad has been rigorously training at the national camp in SAI Bengaluru, focusing on enhancing key areas ahead of a busy international schedule.
With the support of Anandana, the Coca-Cola India Foundation, the team’s drag-flickers will undergo specialized training under Dutch legend Taeke Taekema from May 26 to June 21 in Perth, Australia, and Auckland, New Zealand. Chief coach Sjoerd Marijne expressed his satisfaction with the upcoming tour, emphasizing its significance in identifying areas for improvement post-camps. He highlighted the opportunity to gauge the team’s progress and maintain the momentum following their successful matches against Argentina.
Marijne also pointed out the tour’s role in helping the team adapt to conditions before their New Zealand trip, emphasizing the advantage of breaking up travel to aid quicker acclimatization. He noted the similarity in weather conditions between Australia (Perth) and New Zealand, providing a smoother transition for the team.
