The Indian senior women’s team is set to participate in the FIFA Series 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya, during the April FIFA International Women’s Match Window. The Blue Tigresses will play against hosts Kenya in the semifinal on April 11 at 20:30 IST, with Australia and Malawi facing off in the other semifinal earlier that day at 16:30 IST. India, ranked 67th in the FIFA world rankings, is the second-highest ranked side among the four participants. Australia holds the 15th spot, while Kenya and Malawi are ranked 133rd and 153rd, respectively. Launched in 2024, the FIFA Series is an international friendly tournament that brings together national teams from different confederations to promote international football interaction and development.
The Indian team recently exited the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 after a 1-3 loss to Chinese Taipei in their last Group C match at the Western Sydney Stadium in Sydney, Australia. Despite setbacks, India’s qualification for the Asian Cup on merit last year showcased their potential. In 2022, India had to withdraw from the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 due to a Covid-19 outbreak, halting their World Cup aspirations.
The FIFA Series 2026 in Kenya will feature a schedule with Australia facing Malawi in the first semifinal at 16:30 IST on April 11, followed by Kenya against India at 20:30 IST on the same day. The tournament will conclude with the third-place match and the final on April 15 at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
