Former U23 World Championship silver medalist Hansika Lamba secured a silver medal in the women’s 55kg category at the tournament. Lamba’s remarkable performance included a comeback victory in the semifinals, where she overcame a 2-7 deficit to win 10-7 against Germany’s Anastasia Blayvas.
In the final, Hansika put up a strong fight against Ukraine’s Nataliia Klivchutska but finished second with a 0-5 points loss. This silver medal adds to Hansika’s growing international achievements, following a previous bronze at the 2026 Senior Asian Wrestling Championships.
The Indian wrestling team added to the medal count with two bronze medals on the second day. Vishal Kaliraman secured bronze in the 65kg category by defeating Kazakhstan’s Ossumzhan Dastanbek 8-2. Rajat Ruhal clinched bronze in the 125kg class after his American opponent forfeited due to injury.
With these podium finishes, India’s total medal tally stands at five, with Aman Sehrawat winning gold in the 57kg division and Deepak securing bronze in the 61kg class on the opening day. The team aims to increase this count as more women’s wrestling categories are set to begin.
India’s challenge in the upcoming weight categories will be led by Neha in the 59kg, Mansi in the 62kg, and Nisha in the 68kg classes. The current medal tally includes one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals across various weight divisions.
