The Indian freestyle wrestling team concluded the Ulaanbaatar Open Senior Ranking Series with an impressive total of 17 medals across three categories. This included three gold medals, with Deepak, Dinesh, and Sagar Jaglan standing out for their exceptional performances.
India secured the overall runner-up position in the Men’s Freestyle team rankings, coming second only to Russia. Additionally, they clinched the historic overall team championship in the Greco-Roman division, amassing a dominant 119 points. The Women’s Wrestling squad also contributed significantly with a remarkable seven-medal haul, boosting India’s standings.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Sanjay Singh expressed pride in the team’s achievements, calling it a historic milestone for Indian wrestling. The success of the freestyle and Greco-Roman teams, along with the impressive medal tally, showcases the depth of talent among Indian athletes in the continental arena.
Focusing on individual performances, Deepak secured the 61kg Freestyle gold, Dinesh claimed the 125kg gold, and Sagar Jaglan won the 74kg gold. The Freestyle squad’s success was further highlighted by four bronze medals, contributing to India’s strong showing in the tournament.
The Greco-Roman unit also performed well, earning two gold medals and a bronze. The Women’s Wrestling division added to the tally with seven medals, including golds from Manisha, Neha, and Kajal. With these achievements, India is gearing up with momentum for upcoming international events.
