The Indian Youth boxing team, participating in the World Boxing Futures Cup 2026 in Bangkok, achieved mixed results on the competition’s second day. Radhamani Longjam triumphed in the women’s 57kg category by defeating her Uzbekistan opponent with a Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) in the third round. In the men’s division, Sahil Duhan (60kg) continued his impressive performance, securing a 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Turkmenistan. However, Udham Singh (55kg) put up a strong fight but narrowly lost 3-2 to Japan in a closely contested match.
The World Boxing Futures Cup, held in Bangkok from March 8 to 15, features talented young boxers from various countries competing in the Youth Olympic weight classes, offering valuable international exposure. Last year, Indian youth boxers made history at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain by clinching seven medals – four gold, two silver, and one bronze, marking India’s best-ever performance in youth boxing at the continental level. As the preliminary rounds progress in the tournament, the Indian team aims to maintain its momentum and strive for further success.
