The Indian Youth boxing team has clinched five medals at the World Boxing Futures Cup 2026 in Bangkok. Gunjan (48kg), Joyshree Devi (54kg), Ambekar Meetei (50kg), Chandrika Pujari (51kg), and Radhamani Longjam (57kg) all advanced to the semifinals, ensuring India’s medal tally. Gunjan and Joyshree Devi secured wins in the morning session, while Ambekar Meetei triumphed in the men’s 50kg category.
Chandrika Pujari and Radhamani Longjam also progressed to the semifinals in the evening session. Pujari defeated Spain’s Andrea Buelga García, and Longjam secured a victory over England’s Siobhan Haley. With five boxers in the semifinals, India is guaranteed at least five medals at the tournament, showcasing the country’s boxing talent on a global stage.
The World Boxing Futures Cup in Bangkok, ongoing from March 8 to 15, provides a crucial platform for young athletes to gain international exposure. The Indian contingent aims to convert the assured medals into gold in the upcoming bouts, with a focus on emerging victorious in the semifinals and finals.
