India has seen a significant increase in artificial intelligence (AI) job postings, nearly six times higher since 2019, positioning the country as a key global AI talent and execution center. The surge in AI-related hiring is anticipated to transform India’s office market, with a projected rise in demand for flexible workspaces in the coming years.
According to a report by Redseer Strategy Consultants titled “AI and the Future of Flexible Workspaces,” India’s knowledge-based office space is forecasted to require an additional 79 million square feet between 2025 and 2030, beyond the existing growth trajectory driven by AI advancements. Chhavi Singh, Associate Partner at Redseer Strategy Consultants, emphasized the evolving nature of AI-led teams, emphasizing the shift towards ‘core plus flex’ workplace models for enhanced agility and collaboration.
The report highlighted that AI job postings in India surpassed 290,000 in 2025, fueled by the escalating demand for expertise in machine learning, Generative AI, and ML Ops. India now stands as the second-largest hub globally for AI talent growth, supported by a surge in global AI investments amounting to nearly $582 billion, as outlined in the report.
India’s ability to leverage technological advancements for employment and economic prosperity was underscored in the study, noting the country’s office space expansion to approximately 915 million square feet by 2025, alongside a workforce of around 330 million individuals. The flexible workspace sector in India has also witnessed rapid expansion, with the flex workspace inventory growing from 33 million square feet in 2020 to over 103 million square feet in 2025.
Furthermore, the report indicated a strong inclination towards flexible workspace adoption among enterprises, with nearly 82% of surveyed companies expressing intentions to increase their utilization of flexible workspaces in the next two years. Notably, AI-driven hiring is projected to drive approximately 31% of the demand for flex seat leasing by 2030, signaling a significant impact on workspace dynamics.
