India’s Ambassador to Austria, Shambhu S. Kumaran, engaged in discussions with members of the India Friendship Group in the Austrian Parliament regarding the increasing momentum in bilateral relations. The meeting included participants from the National Council of Austria, such as Ms. Elisabeth Gotze, Mr. Harald Servus, Mr. Andreas Minnich, Dr. Axel Kassegger, Mr. Gerhard Kaniak, and Mr. Yannick Shetty.
The dialogue encompassed various aspects of India-Austria relations, emphasizing opportunities for enhanced cooperation in trade, sustainability, innovation, mobility, supply chain resilience, and newer domains like security and defense, space, and emerging technologies. Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Storker’s inaugural official visit to India in April aimed at bolstering ties across crucial sectors like trade, investment, and emerging technologies.
During his visit, Chancellor Storker commended India’s bilateral and international contributions, highlighting the significance of New Delhi’s influence. He echoed mutual support with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a rules-based global order, emphasizing the importance of negotiations in conflict resolution. Storker described his visit as a pivotal moment for Austrian-Indian relations, underscoring the strengthening of diplomatic ties over the past 75 years.
