India’s campaign at the Macau Open Super 300 ended as Ashmita Chaliha faced a defeat in the women’s singles semifinals against South Korea’s Park Ga Eun. Park secured a spot in the final by defeating Ashmita in straight games, with a score of 21-17, 21-9 in just 38 minutes.
Despite initially leading in the opening game with a 15-11 advantage, Ashmita couldn’t maintain her momentum as Park staged a remarkable comeback, winning 10 of the next 11 points to clinch the game. In the second game, Park continued her dominance, ultimately sealing the match in straight games.
Ashmita’s journey to the semifinals included a strong quarter-final performance against Kim Min Sun, where she overcame a six-point deficit in the second game with a late surge to secure victory. Her consistent performances on the BWF World Tour, including reaching the quarter-finals at the China Masters and Malaysia Masters, showcased her form.
