India’s automobile industry began 2026 on a positive note following significant growth in 2025. Leading car manufacturers reported solid progress and renewed momentum last year. Despite changing market conditions, customer demand increased steadily, especially in the second half of the year. This growth was fueled by new launches, festive-season purchases, and enhanced consumer confidence.
Luxury automaker Audi India concluded 2025 with retail sales of 4,510 units, driven by consistent demand for its SUVs, performance cars, and top-end models. Models like the Audi Q7, Q8, RS Q8 Performance, and S5 Sportback continued to attract buyers. Additionally, popular models such as the Audi Q3, A4, A6, and Q5 maintained steady traction in the market.
Audi India credited regulatory support like GST rationalization and robust festive demand for boosting customer sentiment. Looking forward, the company is gearing up for an action-packed 2026 with new product launches, expanded customer engagement, and initiatives focused on people.
Renault India also witnessed a turnaround in the latter half of 2025, posting an 18.2% year-on-year growth in the second half. The momentum gained strength from the third quarter and peaked in the fourth quarter, with sales surging over 27%. December 2025 marked one of Renault’s best months, with sales climbing 33.4% year-on-year to 3,845 units.
Skoda Auto India celebrated its most successful year in 2025, coinciding with its 25th anniversary in the country. The company achieved record sales of 72,665 cars, doubling its volumes compared to 2024 and registering an impressive 107% growth rate.
Kia India wrapped up CY2025 with total wholesale sales of 280,286 units, reflecting a 15% growth from the previous year. The company recorded its best-ever December sales since inception, with a 105% year-on-year increase to 18,659 units. The Kia Sonet surpassed the 100,000-unit sales mark for the second consecutive year, solidifying its position in the compact SUV segment.
Mahindra & Mahindra ended December 2025 with its highest-ever volumes in SUVs and light commercial vehicles. The company sold 50,946 SUVs in the domestic market during the month, marking a 23% growth. Total vehicle sales, including exports, reached 86,090 units, representing a 25% year-on-year increase. Commercial vehicle sales also saw robust growth, supported by sustained demand in the LCV segment. Mahindra attributed the strong finish in 2025 to growing customer confidence and the success of its SUV-focused strategy.
