India’s creator economy is evolving into a more organized phase, with a significant increase in creator-related job postings by 919% from 2020 to early 2026, as companies transition from individual platforms to formal offices, according to a report. Creator roles, which previously represented 1 in 1,000 marketing jobs in 2020, now constitute nearly 1 in every 100 marketing positions. This shift signifies a move from sporadic influencer collaborations to consistent, integrated hiring models.
The report highlights a rapid rise in creator roles as companies move towards more structured hiring practices, integrating roles like content creators, influencers, and social media professionals into formal organizational frameworks. Despite the continuous emergence of new influencer talent, there is a substantial talent gap due to the escalating demand for structured creator roles surpassing the available supply.
Organizations are now focusing on developing comprehensive content capabilities internally, rather than solely relying on individual creators. A significant portion of creator roles, around 40%, were categorized as influencer positions between March 2025 and February 2026, with 20% as marketing executives and 17% as marketing interns. Moreover, 60% of creator-related hiring now extends beyond traditional influencer titles, encompassing areas such as video production, community management, and content operations, covering various aspects of content execution and engagement.
The formalization of creator roles is introducing a new level of structure within the ecosystem for numerous young Indians who have dedicated years to refining their video editing and storytelling skills, the report points out. Rohan Sylvester, Talent Strategy Advisor at Indeed India, emphasized that as creators transition into formal organizations, the focus is shifting towards measurable outcomes such as audience engagement, conversion rates, and brand consistency.
