External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with South Korea’s Vice Foreign Minister Park Yoon-joo in New Delhi to discuss advancing their special strategic partnership. During the meeting, they explored various initiatives and proposals to strengthen their ties. Additionally, Secretary (East) of the Ministry of External Affairs, P Kumaran, engaged in discussions with Park Yoon-joo on bilateral issues such as trade, economy, shipbuilding, AI, critical minerals, and more.
India and South Korea established diplomatic relations in 1973 and upgraded to a “Special Strategic Partnership” in 2015. Recently, Jaishankar had a telephonic conversation with South Korean counterpart Cho Hyun to enhance bilateral relations. They emphasized the importance of high-level exchanges and strategic economic cooperation between the two countries. The ministers also addressed regional issues, including the situation in the Middle East.
The discussions between Jaishankar and Cho Hyun highlighted the need for close communication on national security measures, particularly in response to developments in the Middle East. Both sides expressed their commitment to advancing their bilateral agenda and addressing the implications of the evolving situation in West Asia.
