India’s Gurindervir Singh faced a setback in the men’s 100m event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 as he failed to progress beyond the heats. Despite finishing second in his heat with a time of 10.39 seconds, he fell short of the qualification mark by 0.15 seconds. The fastest 17 athletes advanced to the next round, leaving Gurindervir in 28th place out of 73 competitors.

Competing in his first Commonwealth Games, the 25-year-old sprinter from India showed promise but was unable to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Gurindervir, who set a national record of 10.09 seconds earlier, was unable to replicate his record-breaking performance in Glasgow. Despite a strong start, he was outpaced by Jamaica’s Rohan Watson, who won the heat with a time of 10.13 seconds.

Gurindervir’s impressive performances leading up to the Games had raised hopes for a strong showing in Glasgow. However, his inability to match his previous record on the big stage resulted in an early exit from the competition. The Indian sprinter’s debut at the Commonwealth Games concluded sooner than expected, despite his earlier success in rewriting national sprinting history.
