India’s Jyothi Yarraji, known as the hurdle queen, quickly secured a spot in the upcoming Asian Games 2026 by meeting the qualifying standard during the women’s 100m hurdles at the 65th National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2026. Hailing from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, the 26-year-old clocked an impressive 3.14 seconds in her first race of the season.
Jyothi, the national record holder in the event, has displayed remarkable resilience following a serious ACL injury that kept her out of action for over a year. She underwent rehabilitation at Reliance Foundation Sports and aims to qualify for the Asian Games in both the 100m hurdles and 200m events.
In the same competition, Nandhini K. achieved the qualification standard for the Asian Games 2026 by clocking 13.24 seconds in the Women’s 100m Hurdles. Notable athletes like Animesh Kujur, Tejas Shirse, Yashas Palaksha, and Murali Sreeshankar, who are bound for the Commonwealth Games, are also participating. Jeswin Aldrin, the national record holder in long jump, will compete against Sreeshankar for a top finish.
