India’s labour governance and social security administration are undergoing a significant transformation, according to Ramesh Krishnamurthi, the Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC) at EPFO. Krishnamurthi highlighted the impact of Labour Codes, especially the Code on Social Security, 2020, and rapid digitization in creating a demand for professionals with a blend of legal and practical skills.
Speaking at an event organized by PDUNASS and EPFO in collaboration with GNLU, Gandhinagar, Krishnamurthi noted the launch of the Executive Development Programme on “Labour Laws and Social Security Compliance (EPFO at Core)” as a crucial step in enhancing professional legal education. This initiative aims to equip professionals with the necessary tools to navigate the complex compliance landscape post-Labour Codes era.
The programme, designed to focus on practical executive learning, aims to bridge the gap between legal understanding, regulatory compliance, and real-world implementation. It seeks to prepare professionals to address the evolving compliance challenges in India’s changing labour and social security scenario. Krishnamurthi stressed that compliance has evolved into a key aspect of responsible governance, ethical employment practices, and sustainable organizational growth.
Emphasizing the importance of robust compliance frameworks, Krishnamurthi highlighted the role of organizations in promoting worker welfare, social protection, trust, transparency, productivity, and industrial harmony. He also mentioned EPFO’s initiatives such as Aadhaar-enabled services, UAN integration, digital compliance platforms, and technology-driven governance reforms as part of the organization’s transformation efforts.
Kumar Rohit, Director of PDUNASS, described the programme’s launch as a significant achievement for the National Academy of Social Security, reflecting a shared vision between PDUNASS and GNLU. Prof (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar, Director of GNLU, lauded the programme as a prime example of academia-industry collaboration, emphasizing the need for professionals well-versed in legal knowledge and practical skills to navigate contemporary labour governance challenges.
