India’s Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, highlighted that the country’s key policy reforms, including Ease of Doing Business and free trade agreements, coupled with growing public confidence, are driving India towards self-reliance and global competitiveness. Goyal emphasized that the reforms implemented in 2025, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, have revitalized startups, MSMEs, exports, and investments, shaping India’s future and enhancing its global economic standing.
Goyal pointed out that these strategic policy measures are instrumental in positioning India as a self-reliant, competitive, and globally trusted economy. He underscored the significance of recent trade agreements with developed nations, which are creating new avenues for businesses and entrepreneurs, fostering certainty and confidence among investors.
The minister’s remarks come amidst India’s active engagement in signing trade agreements with advanced economies, aiming to unlock fresh opportunities for the business community. Addressing the ‘Startup Pe Charcha’ event in Delhi, Goyal emphasized that India’s recent FTAs are not only expanding market access for Indian products and services but also instilling confidence in investors.
Goyal encouraged Indian startups to leverage startup-to-startup collaborations with international partners, particularly in sectors like services, mobility, digital payments, sustainability, renewable energy, and advanced technologies. He highlighted a notable shift in India, with the youth displaying increased self-assurance, willingness to take risks, and a penchant for entrepreneurship, signaling a departure from traditional career preferences.
