India’s cinema advertising landscape is undergoing a significant transformation with PVR INOX partnering with Ikonz Studios to unveil the nation’s first comprehensive, IP-driven holographic engagement platform. This innovative initiative aims to revolutionize cinema advertising by offering immersive and interactive experiences within cinema premises, moving beyond traditional on-screen commercials and posters. The platform features lifelike three-dimensional holograms in cinema foyers and common areas, enabling real-time interaction with brands.
The holographic platform, powered by Ikonz Studios’ proprietary HXR (Holographic Extended Reality) technology and artificial intelligence, allows brands to create captivating experiences that surpass passive viewing, leading to enhanced brand recall among moviegoers. Currently operational at seven PVR INOX locations in Delhi and Mumbai, the platform is set for rapid expansion, with plans for a nationwide rollout across 50 key cinemas by the first quarter of 2026.
Upon full implementation, the network will provide brands with access to high-footfall cinema venues nationwide through a unified, premium engagement ecosystem. Notably, the platform offers the integration of celebrities and popular intellectual properties into holographic experiences, enhancing the overall engagement.
One of the standout features of the platform is its capability to seamlessly incorporate celebrities and renowned intellectual properties into holographic experiences. Early campaigns have already showcased Amitabh Bachchan in a brand activation for IDFC Bank, where audiences could interact with a realistic holographic representation of the actor, fostering trust and brand recall.
Gautam Dutta, CEO of Revenue and Operations at PVR INOX, emphasized the power of cinema as a medium that captivates audiences in a focused and emotionally engaging environment. He highlighted that the new holographic platform elevates cinema advertising by transforming brand communication into an interactive and memorable experience, thereby enhancing its impact on viewers. Abinav Varma Kalidindi, CEO of Ikonz Studios, noted that the platform is designed to convert physical spaces into immersive environments where brands can establish meaningful connections with audiences. By combining holographic technology with celebrity and brand integrations, advertisers can create standout experiences that resonate deeply with consumers.
