Superb performances by Indian spinners N. Shree Charani (2-23) and Vaishnavi Sharma (2-32) limited Sri Lanka Women to 128/9 in 20 overs at the Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Opting to bowl first, India’s bowlers applied pressure early on and maintained it throughout, consistently taking wickets. Sri Lanka, who had scored 121 in the first T20I, only marginally improved this time with a total of 128.
Sri Lanka faced an early setback in the first over when Kranti Gaud dismissed Vishmi Gunaratne for 1 run. Despite a few loose deliveries from Arundathi Reddy, Sri Lanka struggled to build momentum against India’s disciplined bowling attack. Skipper Chamari Athapaththu was the main contributor with 31 runs off 24 balls, including two sixes, before being dismissed by Sneh Rana. India, having won the toss, chose to bowl first.
Harshitha Samarawickrama and Perera steadied Sri Lanka’s innings, reaching 66 for 2 at the halfway mark. However, Perera found it challenging to score boundaries, managing only 22 runs off 28 balls before being dismissed by Shree Charani. Harshitha scored 33 runs before getting run out in the 17th over. Sri Lanka struggled to accelerate in the final overs, finishing at 128 for 9. Indian bowlers Shree Charani (2/23) and Vaishnavi Sharma (2/32) impressed with two wickets each, supported by Kranti Gaud (1/21) and Sneh Rana (1/11).
