Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated that India’s trade ecosystem is experiencing a significant and swift transformation. Goyal highlighted the strengthening of domestic trade and the opening of new global markets for Indian products, driving the country towards enhanced economic growth.
Goyal mentioned the recent signing of a landmark interim trade deal framework between India and the US. This agreement secures long-term preferential access for Indian exports in the US market, valued at over $30 trillion, marking a crucial step in India’s global trade engagement.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) is set to organize the ‘Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav’ from May 1-4 at Bharat Mandapam. Goyal emphasized that this event aligns with PM Modi’s vision to promote Indian products both domestically and internationally, showcasing the strength and potential of India’s trade, industry, and services sector on a global scale.
During a National Governing Council meeting of CAIT last year, Goyal proposed the idea of hosting a large-scale national trade event. Discussions focused on boosting Swadeshi products, MSMEs, startups, and artisans through digital payments, expanding market access, and fostering robust B2B and B2C networking.
Goyal stressed that these initiatives would support the Make in India and Local to Global vision of the Prime Minister, positioning India’s manufacturing capabilities and innovation globally. He also highlighted the importance of providing visibility to entrepreneurs from remote areas to help their indigenous products reach wider markets.
The upcoming four-day ‘Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav’ is expected to feature around 2,200 stalls showcasing Indian products and services from various regions. With an estimated attendance of 10 lakh visitors from all states, including nearly 2 lakh business visitors, the event aims to further boost India’s economy.
