India’s U-23 women boxers excelled at the Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships in Jakarta. Nine boxers have advanced to the semifinals, guaranteeing medals. In the afternoon session, Tanu (51kg) and Nisha (54kg) secured convincing wins, while Nidhi narrowly lost in the 48kg bout.
The evening session witnessed India’s continued success. Prachi (57kg) won decisively, Nikita Chand (60kg) secured a clinical victory, and Kajal (65kg) triumphed in a closely contested match. With these results, India has secured nine medals in the U-23 women’s competition, with all semifinalists assured podium finishes.
India’s strong performance in the women’s category showcases its growing prowess at the continental level. The Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships in Jakarta, ongoing from July 5 to July 16, provide a crucial platform for India’s emerging talent to shine internationally.
