India’s youth are actively shaping the nation’s political, economic, and social progress, stated Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal. Speaking at the National Conclave on “Viksit Bharat ka Sankalp aur Yuva,” Sonowal emphasized the pivotal role of young Indians in advancing towards a developed India.
Sonowal paid homage to Swami Vivekananda, highlighting the enduring relevance of his ideologies. Quoting Vivekananda’s famous words, “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached,” Sonowal underscored how this message continues to motivate young Indians towards achieving excellence with a purpose-driven approach.
Emphasizing India’s demographic dividend, Sonowal noted that the youth constitute a significant portion of the population and embody the nation’s greatest asset. He stressed that the empowerment of young individuals has the potential to steer India’s future in a positive direction.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, youth empowerment has transitioned from mere rhetoric to actionable policies, Sonowal remarked. He highlighted the pivotal role played by the youth in shaping national priorities and contributing to governance and nation-building efforts.
Sonowal observed a notable shift in the past decade, with young Indians actively driving political engagement, economic development, and enhancing India’s global standing. He mentioned key initiatives like Skill India, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, and Startup India, which aim to equip millions of young people with skills for entrepreneurship and innovation.
Additionally, Sonowal pointed out the significance of the National Education Policy in making education more practical and future-oriented. Initiatives such as Khelo India and Digital India have been instrumental in expanding opportunities for the youth, he added.
During the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2026, Sonowal interacted with students from Assam, commending their confidence and acknowledging them as representatives of India’s emerging leadership. He emphasized that the journey towards a developed India is a collective national endeavor, reliant on the vigor, ideas, and leadership of the country’s youth.
