An IndiGo flight traveling from Mumbai to Dubai had to make an emergency landing at Rajkot airport in Gujarat. The crew discovered smoke in the cargo hold area, prompting them to inform air traffic control.
Upon receiving the alert, Rajkot airport initiated a full emergency protocol to ensure a safe landing for the aircraft. Fortunately, the plane landed safely at Rajkot airport, and all 194 passengers disembarked without any injuries.
Rajkot Airport Director, Diganta Borah, confirmed the incident, stating that the IndiGo flight successfully landed after detecting smoke in the cargo hold. Emergency services at the airport were on standby as a precautionary measure following the emergency declaration.
The cause of the smoke remains unknown at this time, with further investigations underway to determine the root of the issue. IndiGo, India’s largest airline in terms of market share, is known for its extensive domestic and international flight operations.
