IndiGo will move all its arrival and departure activities at Guwahati’s Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to the newly constructed Terminal 2 starting July 20. The transition, effective from 12.01 a.m. on July 20, means that all IndiGo flights in Guwahati will utilize the new integrated terminal for various processes like check-in, security checks, boarding, and arrivals.
This shift marks a significant milestone in the phased introduction of the new terminal, aimed at enhancing passenger convenience, operational efficiency, and addressing the escalating air traffic in the Northeast region. The terminal’s design, inspired by bamboo and showcasing Assam’s cultural heritage, combines modern infrastructure with sustainable construction practices.
Passengers flying on IndiGo flights from July 20 onwards are advised to directly proceed to Terminal 2 instead of the current terminal. To facilitate a smooth transition, the airport has increased staff, installed clear wayfinding signs, and bolstered passenger information systems throughout the premises. These efforts are geared towards assisting travelers in navigating the new terminal comfortably during the initial days of the operational change.
Officials recommend that passengers confirm their flight details with the airline before heading to the airport and arrive well in advance of the scheduled departure to complete check-in and security procedures promptly. The transfer of operations by IndiGo, the country’s largest domestic airline, is anticipated to boost passenger traffic through the new terminal significantly and reinforce Guwahati Airport’s status as the key aviation gateway to the Northeastern states.
