Indonesian rescuers have located a victim from the crashed ATR 42-500 aircraft on Mount Bulusaraung in Pangkep regency, South Sulawesi. The victim was found on the mountain slope and is being evacuated to the search and rescue (SAR) command post in Tompobulu village.
Commander of the XIV/Hasanuddin Military Regional Command, Major General Bangun Nawoko, informed that the rescue team discovered the victim while evacuating aircraft wreckage. The victim’s condition and identity are yet to be confirmed as the team faces challenges due to the difficult terrain.
The ATR 42-500 aircraft lost contact over Maros regency in South Sulawesi province while en route from Yogyakarta to Makassar. The plane was carrying 10 individuals at the time, including seven crew members and three passengers.
In a separate incident last September, an aircraft crashed in Central Papua province, resulting in the loss of all four individuals on board. The wreckage was found in a canyon in Mimika regency, with the bodies taken to a hospital in Timika, the regency’s capital.
