A summit, named the “Viksit Porbandar Furniture Park Summit,” is scheduled on June 13 and 14 in Gandhinagar to discuss the development framework and future roadmap of the proposed Mega Furniture Park in Porbandar. The event aims to bring together government officials, industry leaders, trade bodies, and international representatives to explore the establishment of a large-scale furniture manufacturing hub in the region.
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and State Minister Arjun Modhwadia, along with over 50 representatives from the furniture manufacturing sector and industry associations, are expected to participate in the summit. The event will also host national and international organizations and brands, including IKEA and representatives from various industry bodies.
Senior representatives from the state government’s Industries Department and Ports Department will be part of the discussions to present the project framework and coordinate mechanisms for its development. The summit will focus on the feasibility, development guidance, and strategic initiatives for the growth of the Mega Furniture Park in Porbandar.
Delegates from India and abroad will conduct a site visit near Porbandar to assess the proposed location for the Furniture Park and review planned infrastructure facilities. The event will also feature welcome programs and cultural events to showcase the art, culture, and traditions of the Saurashtra region to visiting delegates.
The proposed Furniture Park aims to enhance Porbandar’s industrial base by attracting investments in furniture manufacturing, creating job opportunities, and supporting a manufacturing ecosystem for domestic and international markets. The two-day summit is set to conclude on June 14 after stakeholder consultations and site inspections.
