The Long Air Defence Course held at the Army Air Defence College in Gopalpur concluded after a rigorous 44-week training program. Officers from the Indian Army and six officers from Friendly Foreign Countries, including Botswana, Ghana, Myanmar, Nepal, and Malaysia, participated in the course, showcasing increased defense cooperation.
The training covered technical and tactical aspects of modern Ground-Based Air Defence Systems (GBADS) to enhance officers’ skills in countering aerial threats like drones and missiles. Emphasis was placed on utilizing technology-driven solutions and fostering innovative thinking for improved air defense readiness in changing battlefield scenarios.
During the valedictory ceremony, Major Akshay Patil was honored with the Vayu Raksha Trophy for outstanding performance, while Major Sumit Kumar received the Commandant’s Trophy for overall excellence. Lt Gen R.C. Srikanth, Commandant of the Army Air Defence College, presented the awards, praising the officers for their dedication and professionalism.
The successful completion of the course underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to enhancing capacity, modernization, and operational readiness in air defense. It also reinforces India’s role as a significant training partner for friendly nations, contributing to regional and global security cooperation.
