Admiring the high voter turnout in the Assembly elections, a group of 32 delegates from 16 countries and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) lauded the elections in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu as a true celebration of democracy. The Election Commission of India (ECI) official mentioned that the delegates were impressed by the meticulous planning and smooth execution of the polls during their visit.
During their two-day visit to Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, the international delegates observed the organized movement of polling parties and election materials at dispatch and distribution centers. They also had the opportunity to interact with election officials and were briefed on the overall election conduct and security arrangements in place to ensure peaceful elections.
In West Bengal, the delegates appreciated the provision of health check-up services at polling stations and recent initiatives like the mobile deposit facility for voter convenience. Similarly, in Tamil Nadu, they praised the assured minimum facilities and well-organized, color-coded polling booths, highlighting the commitment to voter comfort and inclusivity.
The visiting teams commended the ECI for its transparency, inclusivity, and excellence in election management. They expressed gratitude for the opportunity to witness the scale and grandeur of the Indian election process, which continues to set benchmarks in conducting elections with record voter participation.
