The probe into the multi-crore theft at Bihar’s Gopalganj’s Thave Durga Temple has taken a surprising turn. The police’s Special Investigation Team conducted a 24-hour excavation and discovered two priceless Ashtadhatu idols of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita buried underground.
During a raid at the house of the main accused, Sharif Alam, police found the stolen idols hidden beneath the ground. The idols, along with other suspicious items, were concealed to destroy evidence.
In connection with the case, four family members of the absconding accused have been arrested. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts to recover the remaining stolen valuables intensifying.
