Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has stated that Tehran has no intention of engaging in negotiations with the United States as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise. This declaration follows reports suggesting that Larijani was exploring the possibility of diplomatic talks with the US through intermediaries from Oman. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticized the recent US strikes that resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, labeling them as unlawful aggression and asserting that Iran will retaliate without compromise.
The US and Israel conducted joint airstrikes on Iran on February 28, coinciding with ongoing nuclear discussions between Washington and Tehran. In response to the military operation that led to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death, Iran launched a series of missile attacks targeting US military bases across the region. The United States, along with six Gulf nations, has condemned these attacks as “indiscriminate and reckless,” emphasizing that such actions pose a significant threat to regional stability.
US President Donald Trump has characterized the American military offensive against Iran as one of the most extensive and complex operations in history. Trump confirmed the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and pledged to continue combat operations until all objectives are accomplished.
