Iran has strongly criticized the United States for lifting the temporary suspension of sanctions on Iranian oil sales, calling it a violation of a recent agreement. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran condemned the US Treasury’s action, holding Washington accountable for the repercussions of this move.
The Ministry accused the US of acting with malicious intent, instability, and unreliability by revoking the embargo on Iranian oil sales. Iran alleged that the US had breached the Memorandum of Understanding by lifting the sanctions less than 20 days after the agreement was signed.
Iran emphasized its commitment to fulfilling its obligations under the agreement in good faith. The Ministry highlighted that despite Iran’s efforts to comply with the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding, the US government had consistently violated its obligations and provided various justifications for its actions.
In response to the US decision, Iran warned that it would take necessary actions to protect its national interests and security. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran stated that it reserved the right to safeguard its interests and national security, signaling a firm stance against the US move.
US forces have launched strikes against Iran following attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. The US Central Command announced that the strikes were in retaliation for Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the international waterway. Explosions were reported near Iran’s Qeshm Island and the port cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik.
