Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed that ongoing discussions with the United States have not led to a finalized agreement. Baghaei emphasized that the focus of Iran’s negotiations is on ending the conflict, with no detailed talks on uranium enrichment at this stage. Additionally, he stated that the management of the Strait of Hormuz is a matter concerning Iran and Oman exclusively.
US President Donald Trump outlined conditions for a potential deal with Iran, including Iran’s agreement to never possess nuclear weapons. Trump also called for the immediate opening of the Hormuz Strait for unrestricted shipping traffic in both directions, with the removal of any water mines. Furthermore, Trump mentioned plans for the United States to work with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency to uncover and eliminate Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles.
Trump clarified that no financial compensation for the war will be exchanged at present. The ceasefire between Iran, the United States, and Israel was established on April 8 following a 40-day conflict. Both sides have exchanged proposed plans through Pakistani mediation to end the conflict, with efforts underway to finalize a memorandum of understanding.
